In the dancehall sense of the word, bowing suggests deference to the woman’s pleasure, a gesture no upstanding man is prepared to admit that he makes. But, of course, women do bow as well. It’s the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
The environment may very well become a hot election issue. If the JLP fails to show its true colours, orange might just prove to be the new green.
In my column “NWC Killing Us Softly” (January 24, 2010), I quoted the findings of a rigorous environmental impact assessment done in 2000 that documented the probable negative impact of the construction of the Long Mountain Country Club. A decade later, evidence of the accuracy of that assessment is plain to see.
